TRAINING

All Taunton AC's training is based at The Castle School track, The Castle School, Wellington Road, Taunton TA1 5AU.

JUNIORS

Training for the youngest members of the club is multi-disciplined, with the focus on fundamental movement skills and learning to train.

In the Transition Group, athletes learn to move from learning to train to training to compete, and then training to win.

Athletes then move on to event specific training groups, including endurance running, sprints, jumps and throws.

SENIORS

A large number of members of Taunton AC are Senior Men and Women (Over 20s and above), ranging from beginners and casual members wanting to keep fit, to competitive athletes of county standard and above.  The largest contingent participate in Road or Multi-terrain running or Cross-Country, with others focussing on sprints and other track and field events.

Seniors train on Tuesday evening from 6.10pm to 7.45pm, using The Castle School track for drills and interval training, arranged in groups according to ability.

From October to March, we have a Thursday session starting at 6.30pm at the track, doing a variety of sessions ranging from long 45-60 minute runs, to hill sessions at Bishops Hull, flat trail sessions at Longrun Meadow, or interval sessions on road at Galmington and Gypsy Lane.  Please wear reflective clothing for these evening runs.
