WELLINGTON MONUMENT RACE

Well done to everyone who took part or organised another highly successful Wellington Monument Race - runners, marshalls, cake stall volunteers and event organisers! Results are here.
This year, the Wellington Monument Race took place on Sunday 15th December 2024. The race is run over 6.27miles (10,090m) incorporating 1654 metres of bridle path. It starts at The Catherine Wheel Public House in the village square at Hemyock, and finishes at Hemyock County Primary School. It is open to all aged 16 years or over on race day, but unfortunately the course is unsuitable for wheelchairs.
The John Cooksley Memorial Team Challenge Shield is open to teams of four (including mixed teams). There are awards for 1st , 2nd and 3rd male and female runners and for the first local male and female, along with first junior male and female. In addition, awards are available for winners in a wide range of vet categories. All finishers receive a finisher award, a mince pie and mulled wine.
It is a well-marshalled course with toilets and changing facilities but unfortunately no showers.

Results from past years are available here. Races in 2009 and 2010 were cancelled due to bad weather, while there were no races in either 2020 or 2021 due to Covid. 2023 was a break year.
