WELLINGTON MONUMENT RACE

Many thanks to everyone who helped make this year's Wellington Monument Race such a success!  The results are here.

After all the uncertainties surrounding COVID, we are finally back in 2022!  This year's Wellington Monument Race will take place on Sunday 18th December 2022, starting at 10.00am, and is dedicated to Rowland Lyons, known as Whoosh to many.  Whoosh was a member of our club who sadly passed away this year in a tragic accident.  The race is run over 6.27miles (10,090m) incorporating 1654 metres of bridle path.  It starts at The Catherine Wheel Public House in the village square at Hemyock, and finishes at Hemyock County Primary School.  It is open to all aged 16 years or over on race day, but unfortunately the course is unsuitable for wheelchairs.

The John Cooksley Memorial Team Challenge Shield is open to teams of four (including mixed teams). There are awards for 1st , 2nd and 3rd male and female runners and for the first local male and female, along with first junior male and female.  In addition, awards are available for winners in a wide range of vet categories.  All finishers receive a finisher award, a mince pie and a hot toddy.

It is a well-marshalled course with toilets and changing facilities but unfortunately no showers.
