DOUBLE COACH SUCCESS FOR TAC

There was double success for Taunton AC coaches at Saturday's England Athletics Regional Awards Evening in Exeter.

Coach of the Year went to Steve Shaw, who specialises in multi-event athletes. It's been a great year for Steve and his athletes - Under 18 heptathlete Seren Rodgers enjoyed a breakthrough year, setting numerous personal bests, and culminating in a seventh place finish at the Under 18 European Championships held in Jerusalem in July.  On the largest stage of her career so far, she set four new personal bests out of the seven events!

Runner-up was Charlotte Fisher, whose training group also enjoyed great success during the track and field season.  Kirstie Booth set a new British Masters record for the 2000m steeplechase way back in April, and then went on to win silver representing GB V40 at the World Masters in Finland in July.

This is a tremendous accolade, not just for Steve and Charlotte, but is also testament to the strength in depth amongst the coaches working at Taunton AC.  There is a growing awareness of how crucial quality coaching is in the development of the athlete, both as a sportsperson and as an individual, and we are very fortunate to have such expert people working with our athletes at the club.
