SHARRON'S UPDATE 10.01.23

And the New Year is up and running.....literally!! 😃😃

Well done to those out and about today, wherever you were....some plumped for the "dry" road and some at trail or cross-country races.

First up was Lis Ford at an 8-mile trail race in Hampshire.... Having rescued herself from a near face plant, Lizs ran a fabulous time of 1.29.

Good work from those who headed to the cross-country.

Stoke Stampede 10K

With a mixed bag of weather overhead and some flooding underfoot to contend with, the race was being faced with a certain amount of trepidation....once the runners were off and all got into their stride, nothing left to do but go for it....

And go for it you all did.....

Not one grumpy face amongst you when you had crossed the finish line....

All had done what you wanted....a run to get the year underway and a benchmark figure, some PBs were had.... Some using the race as part of their marathon plans, and some just to be happy to be out there, wearing their vests with pride!

Here's the results..... Fabulous viewing near the finish line

Jim McConnel....5th....35.23

Mawgan Andrew...6th...35.56 (2nd senior male)

Charlie Moir...35.57 PB....(3rd senior male).  Having only just started running a year ago and joining us before Christmas, Charlie is coming on in leaps and bounds and getting to grips with this running lark....brilliant!

Andy Staples....10th...36.42

Neil Smith....13th...37.01. PB  13th unlucky for some, but not Neil, taking off over half a minute from last year's time!!

Marcus A!bano...15th..37.09

Russ Roberts....17th....37.46  PB....(1st local male)  Would you believe Russ has never done a 10K?

I know you may just kill me for this Russ, but I am going to share...

Russ confided he had never won anything before and was always the last to be picked for any school teams...Personally I think he's now found his sporting niche in life....and plenty more to come ....we were so pleased for you Russ!!!!  Keep that trophy sparkly!

Craig Whitemore...18th...38.14: (1st V50)

True commitment to the cause....I can only let you imagine the chaffing issues Craig obtained...how was the shower when you got home?🙈

Happy running!
